About this template

This summer-themed version of the classic game Hangman is great for younger students where instead of a gloomy gallows, students create a charming scarecrow step by step as they guess the letters of a hidden word.

How to Play

Choose a Word: This game is typically played with one student or the teacher acting as the game master. The game master chooses a word or phrase appropriate for the age and skill level of the students. This word is kept secret from the students.

Start guessing: Students take turns guessing letters they think might be in the word. Each correct guess reveals the letter in its position(s) in the word.

  • For each incorrect guess, a part of the scarecrow is drawn.
  • The assembly begins with the basic structure and continues with features like the hat, face, clothes, and accessories.
  • The goal is to guess the word before the scarecrow is fully assembled.

Winning the game: The game ends when either the scarecrow is completed (the game master wins) or if the entire word is guessed before the scarecrow is fully made (the students win).
