Supercharge your group work
Group activities should energize your classroom, not overwhelm you. With our group maker, you can turn chaotic group work into a smooth, engaging experience, especially when combined with station rotations. Here’s how to set it up, step by step, so you can focus on what matters most: your students’ learning.
Start by opening the Group maker widget. If you haven’t already, add your class list in the settings. You can type names manually or use a saved list if you use the same groups often.
Once your list is ready, decide how many students you want in each group. For station rotations, aim for small teams, usually 3-5 students per group works best. Click ‘Generate’ and watch as it creates balanced groups instantly.
Now that your groups are set, it’s time to plan the rotations. Use the Timetable widget to map out how long students will spend at each station.
- Station 1: Storytelling
- Station 2: Math games
- Station 3: Science lab
- Station 4: Art corner
Display the timetable on your screen so students can see the schedule at a glance.
Here’s where the magic happens. With the ‘Move Groups’ feature, you can rotate teams through stations without rearranging anything manually. Simply click the ‘Rotate Groups’ button, and each group will automatically move to the next station on your list.
To keep transitions smooth, use the Timer widget to signal when it’s time to switch. Set the timer for the duration of each station activity, and let it count down visibly for the class.
tip:
To maintain a productive atmosphere, use the Noise level widget to monitor classroom volume. Set a target noise level for group work, and let students self-regulate as they collaborate.
Group work doesn’t have to be complicated. With the Group maker and a few simple widgets, you can create a dynamic, organized, and inspiring classroom environment. Set up your first station rotation today and see the difference!
You can try it for yourself for free through our Group work template.
