About this template

This simple and engaging template is perfect as an elementary-level brain break that can be used as a transition or as a fun classroom activity.

How it works

Activate the color dot dice and start the timer, preset to 1 minute. Students are then tasked with finding (either through getting up or staying in their seats and looking) and writing down as many objects of that color as they can within the classroom. For example, if the chosen color is blue, students might list items such as a blue book, a blue marker, or a piece of blue paper.

After the timer goes off, students stop writing and gather together to compare their lists. You can lead a discussion where students share what they found, and the class can tally up who identified the most objects of the specified color. This comparison not only adds a competitive element but also fosters collaboration as students learn from each other’s observations.
